We have a strong commitment to our children to ensure that the staff that care for them have been carefully selected and have extensive knowledge and the practical abilities to care for children. We ensure that our staff have a genuine passion and natural rapport with children to enable them to deliver the highest level of care and attention whilst ensuring that they are meeting the development needs of every child.
Staff turnover is exceptionally low due to the commitment we have in staff training, responding to their needs, listening to their requirements about their units and acting on them and giving staff the responsibility to make necessary changes. Many of our staff have been with us from the very beginning and some are just beginning but all of our staff are highly motivated, fun and extremely competent in ensuring all our children have the best experience of Woodlands.
We never use agency staff as we feel it is extremely important for us to know the staff and have a complete understanding of their practical capabilities prior to giving them the responsibility of caring for our children. We provide the children in our care with the very best that we can offer, in order to do this we feel it is essential to make our own background checks to ensure appropriate suitability.
Our staff hold a variety of relevant childcare qualifications and are committed to enhancing their professional development;
- 97.7% are qualified to a Level 2 or above
- 85.8% have a Level 3 qualification or above
- 15.4% have a Level 4
- 6.6% have a BA Honors in childcare
- 85.8% of our staff our qualified ABOVE the government minimum requirements
Many of our staff are also working towards bettering their qualifications. We are fortunate enough to have in house assessors which enable our staff to work thoroughly their qualifications and utilise their expertise. We are very pleased to have our very own Early Years Professional within the nursery to support staff when delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage and to ensure the children receive a rich learning experience.
As well as these formal qualifications we insist on all of our staff having qualifications in First Aid, Child Protection and Food hygiene. We also have three onsite qualified trainers, who are able to train in First Aid, Child protection and many more.
All our staff have undergone a vigorous background check including Criminal Record Checks and referencing. We invest in our staff and encourage them to further their professional development and so if they have a particular interest or area of expertise they are able to undergo further training.
In addition to this we hold regular in house training to ensure all our staff have current knowledge and best practice, as a setting we have a multi-agency approach ensuring our staff can access information regarding speech and language, portage and behavior issues to name a few.
