Our Baby Unit is a converted bungalow that has been specifically designed with babies in mind. We have many fantastic areas each with different play opportunities that stimulate the baby’s senses and help them to become confident learners. The sensory room is decorated using different soft lighting, twinkling bugs that dangle, flowers with textures that can be touched and light boxes that fade and move. We use this room for relaxed story times, song time, heuristic play and treasure baskets, thus allowing us to really explore all the senses.

Our messy play room is ideal with the tiled non slip floors and tiled walls that allow the children to make as much mess as they like and it can be easily cleaned.

Our activity room is equally as appealing, here we can have more structured sit-down activities, such as puzzles and activities that require that extra added bit of quiet and concentration. The activity room has an added bonus of the sliding door which opens into the play room. This way we have two options - one big room, or two separate rooms. The activity room has three brilliant mirrors, textured accessories and a chalk board which the children can use whenever they like.

Our play room is a nice big open space that children can enjoy being in, whether they are sat quietly with the soft toys or running up and down chasing each other. There is lots of room for lots of fun!!

This room doubles up as the main sleep room. The children lay on mats with their own individual sleeping bags. We have black out blinds put in this room to ensure the children get the best possible sleep. We have noticed the children are sleeping better in this room, we think this is because it is much quieter in our new building. We also have a separate sleep room for the younger children and those that sleep in cots. We have a viewing window in each of these rooms so we can keep a close eye on them without disturbing them.

Each of our three rooms has a number of display boards on the walls. We use these as a way of showing parents just how much fun the children have. We put a lot of time and effort into this so we can share our pride and joy.

We have lots of fun in our new unit and the children enjoy the new toys such as sparkly giant books, story sacks and the ball collections. The babies have their own courtyard area for their sand and water play and they are also able to access our large garden and our specifically designed soft play area where they can explore their surroundings and practice their climbing skills. Our emphasis in this unit is to provide a home from home atmosphere and to support each baby emotionally to make them feel comforted and protected at all times.
